The Scientific Method Grade 7 Science Worksheets

 Make an Observation

01.

Notice something interesting and identify it as an observation that triggers curiosity.  Example: Your potted house plant died despite being watered daily.

 Ask a Question

02.

Formulate a question based on the observation.  Example: Why did the plant die even though it was watered frequently?

 Conduct Research

03.

Gather information and existing knowledge related to the question.  Example: Learn that plants can die from either not enough water or too much water.

Form a Hypothesis

04.

Develop an educated guess or possible explanation. Example: Hypothesize that the plant died from over-watering.

Conduct Experiment

05.

Design and carry out an experiment to test the hypothesis. Example: Compare two plants, one watered heavily and one watered lightly, and observe the outcomes.

Analyze Data and Report Conclusions

06.

Examine the results and determine if they support the hypothesis, then report findings.   Example: Conclude that over-watering caused the plant to die, supporting the hypothesis.
